How an Arkansas Home Brought Traditional Design to the Present

In their most recent issue, At Home in Arkansas features a Little Rock home that combines aged European furnishings with modern design elements to start a whole new tradition in classic American design. To achieve this, Designer Jim Howard of James Michael Howard, Inc. started with a light and airy pallet and then pulled inspiration from different elements of traditional European and classic American design for the furniture and decor. The main goal with the interior design was not only to create a certain stylish look but also to create an environment that was very livable for the family. As you can see below, the design was a complete success, embodying both high comfort and high style! Tell us in a comment what you think.

Howard used modern fabric for window treatments and upholstering to give antique elements a new life and a modern twist.

The more modern sofa and chairs are paired with an antique secretary bureau, antique French chandelier and antique mirrored coffee table for a living room look that is fashion-forward while still warm welcoming.
