Bring in the New Year French Style
Want to bring prosperity into your home for the new year? Of course you do, and what better way to do so than the French way. Just as there are customary New Years Day meals in the United States, they have customary New Years Eve dinners in France. On New Years Eve, or la Saint-Sylvestre as the French would say, a big feast is held entitled le Reveillon de Saint-Sylvestre. The feast is composed of customary dishes such as foie gras, oysters, pancakes and champagne. The French believe it is the combination of the foods that bring prosperity. And just like in America, the French celebrate in intimate settings with family and friends, or they attend large parties to bring in the new year. On le Jour de l’An (New Years Day) the French then present each other with gifts, resolutions, kisses and well wishes for the new year. Bring the New Year French style with a feast full of prosperity.
